Petr Marmanov

Marmanov was born in 1940 in Crimea. His father was a composer. His father wanted his son to be a pianist and continue the family tradition of composing. Petr at the age of ten, however, began to paint. First he painted naïve scenes with pencil, then father realizing his talent and potential bought him some paints and enrolled him in an art school. At school, he impressed his art teachers who convinced his father to encourage And continue Petr’s art education.

In 1956, Petr entered art school in Crimea and was graduated in 1961. During these years at school, he learned how to translate the city and nature onto the canvas through many hours of painting “en plein air”. From 1961 to 1963, Petr served in the Russian navy. After that, he returned home and continued to paint. Since 1965, Petr has participated in the Republican Exhibition in the Ukraine and Soviet Union. He became a member of the Union of the Artists of the USSR. Influences guiding the work of Marmanov were the great Russian painters Korovin and Zakharov.

His works are displayed in many museums and galleries in the former Soviet Union, the Ukraine and Russia. His work is now being sold in the United States in some
of the countries finest art galleries.
