Marty Ricks

“I had the great fortune to be born into a family of fiercely independent creative people who nurtured and encouraged my creative side.” Marty Ricks was born into rural Idaho in 1961. He had time and space to roam alone, and to make discoveries that “served to plant in my heart a deep love of nature and a sense of who I was in relation to the world around me.” Ricks relationship to nature is clearly reflected in the emotional experience of his landscapes.

Marty Ricks has received much fame and recognition as a “Master Framermaker.” He is founder and president of Kreiger-Ricks. “In my career as a frame maker I have become acquainted with many great artists and some of them have had a profound impact on me. Ovances and Galust Berberian have greatly impacted my aesthetic.” A few of his other favorite artists are Russell Chattman, Thomas Aquinas Daley and George Inness.

Marty Ricks is beginning to receive the same national acclaim for his talent as an artist as his brilliant frame design.
